Discovery: Transgender Brain is Not Normal
Ivanka Savic, a neuroscientist at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and visiting UCLA professor has been studying the brains of transgender people. She found that two regions, the thalamus and putamen, were smaller in transgender women than in cisgender women. These brain regions had been shown in previous studies to mediate perception of the body. And she found that the connections between the networks mediating self and the networks mediating own body were weaker in transgender people. Does this explain transgenderism? And if so, are you born with these differences or do they develop in childhood? We go in depth with Dr. Savic seeking the answer.

Transgender Movement Introduction
Welcome to our deep dive into the transgender movement. It was the T in LGBT that no one understood or took seriously. But it started to take center stage soon after gay marriage became law. Now we have laws requiring gender-neutral bathrooms, coverage for gender reassignment surgery, banning of counseling for gender dysphoric children, trans-athletes playing the sport of their chosen gender, and puberty blocking drugs being given to children. Yet most people have never met a transgender person, don’t understand what it means to be transgender, and are afraid to ask. We explore what it means to be transgender, ask who is really behind the movement, and whether it is rooted more in science or political correctness.
